Staying Healthy During the Pandemic

blog

I see a lot of posts on social media, of people gaining weight during the pandemic. Well, I have to say this old lady is losing weight. No, I am not on a diet and yes I do exercise and eat healthy, set limits.

I have been trying to maintain my goal to lose weight and keep it off. I had bad eating habits. Love my fried chicken, potato salad (with Mayo) and you name it I love it. But the weight gain was really not helping me at all, plus with all the sugars in food was not helping either. I suffer from hypertension. So after going back and forth to the doctor and taking high blood pressure pills, I decided to do better.

Of course, I needed help in keeping my focus and maintaining my goal. My best friend Laure helps me keep in check. With her preparing healthy meals and making accountable, I have managed to lose so far thirty pounds. The pressure is lower, and I do not have to go back for a check-up until six months later.

For exercise used to do Zumba, but now with the Pandemic, I walk more, and I stay active with weights. With the warmer weather, I walk more in the morning and then again in the evening when it is cooler. Twice a day, and I do manage to do some other exercises.

A part of self-care is to take care of yourself. Taking care of yourself is so important. You have to want to change the things that are affecting your life in unhealthy ways, such as your health. And making an effort to do what is important. So come on and make that change.
